Your impact

Every bag we collect is weighed, so you can see what you recycle. Together, ReSmart customers have already diverted over 2.7 million kg of resources from landfill.

What do the numbers on my impact page mean?

Your impact numbers are on your account dashboard, in the ReSmart app and on the web. They show:

  • the total weight of resources collected from you, from the bags weighed at each of your Pickups (how we weigh);
  • an estimate of the CO₂ emissions saved;
  • what you recycle most, split into soft plastics, e-waste, textiles and misfits;
  • Community Impact: the total for everyone in your area.
How is the CO₂ saved worked out?

The figures are estimates based on the weight we collect in each category: soft plastics, e-waste, textiles and misfits.

Is my recycling making a difference?

Yes. Every Pickup keeps resources out of landfill, and recycled material replaces new raw material: recycling generally emits less CO₂ than making something new.

The way we collect helps too:

  • One trip for many homes. A driver collects from many homes in one run, so households don't each drive to a drop-off point.
  • Short routes. We plan routes so drivers travel as little as possible. When you book, the day marked with a green leaf on the calendar is the suggested day that keeps your driver's route shortest.
  • Clean streams. Drivers sort by hand, so what we send to recyclers can be given a second life. See what happens to your items.
What does Community Impact mean?

Community Impact is the total weight collected from all ReSmart customers in your area: every bag, weighed at every Pickup. If your council works with us, we report these figures to it every month.

What are community impact goals?

Each area has milestones for the total weight its residents recycle with us. The first is 5,000 kg, and each next goal is one and a half times the last: 7,500 kg, then about 11,300 kg, and so on.
